Opportunities for Delta Hospital Staff

There are two education funds available to Delta Hospital staff, the Delta Cedar Products Educational Fund and the Al Hollinger and Joan Rumsey Nursing Education Fund. To find out more about these opportunities,please see below. 
 
Delta Cedar Products Educational Fund
The Delta Cedar Products Educational Fund was established in 1995 through a generous donation of a $250,000.00 endowment fund by Mr. Errol Wintemute. These funds will remain intact in perpetuity and the interest will be used for educational purposes at Delta Hospital.
 
Objectives of the Fund
The objectives of this fund are to provide bursaries to support educational programs for employees of Delta Hospital as well as employees and volunteers of the Delta Hospital Foundation to meet the current and future health needs of the community. This fund is also available to provide educational opportunities for staff at Delta Hospital through on-site in-service training programs.
 
Eligibility Requirements

*Employees of Delta Hospital or employees and volunteers of Delta Hospital Foundation. 

*Enrollment in a program benefitting your current or future career goals at Delta Hospital or Delta Hospital Foundation.

*Completion of the application and submission of receipts

*Have exhausted all other avenues of funding support demonstrated by documentation

*Applicants agree to reimburse forthwith Delta Hospital Foundation of all funds granted from the Delta Cedar Products Educational Fund that are approved for programs or courses not completed

*Recipients agree to publicity and recognition opportunities and to acknowledge Delta Cedar ProductsA letter from your direct supervisor should be included outlining the benefits to this department and to Delta Hospital Foundation

 
Administration of the Fund
Applications will be made available at the Delta Hospital Foundation throughout the year. Applicants must exhaust all other potential avenues of funding prior to making an application to this fund. The Delta Cedar Products Educational Fund will be administered by a committee of the Delta Hospital Foundation's Board of Directors and the Delta Hospital Foundation shall serve as secretary. Delta Hospital Foundation will provide Delta Cedar Products Ltd. with an annual report on the use of the proceeds from this fund.
 
Reimbursement

*Reimbursement will be processed in accordance with the following schedule

*The successful applicant will be reimbursed upon receipt of written proof of the satisfactory completion of the course(s) (Pass grade).

*Submission of a copy of the required thank you letter forwarded to Delta Cedar Products within 14 days.

 
Primary Focus of the Fund Will Be

*Clinical Education - funding will be made available to Nurses, Technologists and Technicians.

*Support Services Education - funding will be made available to employees and volunteers of Delta Hospital Foundation, employees of Delta Hospital's Housekeeping, Facilities Management, Administrative Office and other support service areas.

*In-service Training Programs - funding will be made available to hire qualified speakers/trainers to provide in-service training programs on-site directly to Delta Hospital staff. Proposals are accepted from all departments.

The Al Hollinger and Joan Rumsey Nursing Education Fund
 
The Al Hollinger and Joan Rumsey Nursing Education Fund was established in 2012 through a generous donation of a $100,000 endowment gift by Mr. Al Hollinger. These funds will remain intact in perpetuity and the interest will be used for educational purposes for nursing staff at Delta Hospital. 
 
Objectives of the Fund 
The objective of the fund is to support learning opportunities for nursing education at Delta Hospital by providing training equipment and resources to nursing staff. The fund will help Delta Hospital achieve its long term goal for providing excellence in nursing education to the nursing staff at Delta Hospital. This fund is also available to provide educational opportunities for nursing staff at Delta Hospital through on-site in-service programs.
 
Administration and distribution of Fund
The Delta Hospital Foundation retains and invests the capital in accordance with the policies of the Foundation. Distribution of the fund happens annually, during Spring. The maximum amount available for distribution of the fund would be from the interest earned on the initial capital.  
This annual disbursement would be communicated to the CNE group and Delta Hospital Site Director via the Foundation.
